23 ways to get unstuck and gain laser focus: part 2

Where are you stuck? Maybe it’s your in career or a certain relationship. Maybe it’s with that personal branding project you really want to start…but something holds you back. You’re here because you are committed to creating a life and career that you love and loves you back.

You have big goals, but find yourself going in circles. You are getting frustrated because you can’t focus. You’re an overachiever and multi-passionate person, but can’t get your head in line with your heart to move forward at the pace you want.

Funny how that works.

I’ve been gathering tons of research, data and methods to help you do the TWO things that clients ask me for the most:

“Lisa, I’m ready to move on these big goals but feel stuck, what do I do?”

“Lisa, I can’t focus on anything, what do I do?”

This month I’m going to get you out of stuck and into action.

And this is Part 2 of a 2 part series, if you missed Part 1, pop over there for even more motivation and mindset tools.

23 ways to get unstuck and gain laser focus: Part 2

12. Don’t Wait for Permission

One of the negative mindset traps we can fall into is ‘waiting for permission’: From the Universe, from our spouse—or even from those loud disrespectful voices in our heads.

Don’t wait for signs that you ‘deserve’ to get that job you desire, to take a real 2-week vacation, or to show up as 85 % perfect. Now’s the time, you have permission.

13. Write yourself a mantra

A personal mantra is an affirmation to motivate and inspire you to be your best. Its purpose is to encourage to you when you need to focus your mind. Originally used in in Hinduism and Buddhism, mantras have been used around the world for thousands of years.

It should go something like this: “I grant myself permission to receive abundance in all areas of life and I grant myself permission to be X, Y, and Z.” I say to myself, “I grant myself permission to be golden, fluid and limitless.”

14. Optimize your Brain Power for Laser Focus

The brain is not designed to work 8-5pm. It sprints for 50-90 minutes. How do you refuel? Do you work till your eyes ache? Do you take short breaks to walk around every hour and a half? How do you think that would benefit your focus? Here’s a short list of ways to boost your brain power to laser focus with ease:

  • Move your body
  • Sleep, 7.5 to 8 hours a night
  • 3 ten minute “Awake rests” to mentally wander
  • Laugh everyday
  • Feed your body good food
  • Drink a boatload of water
  • Brain needs complex-carbohydrates, snack!
  • Focus on what you want to see

15. Have Fun Becoming Unstuck

Too often being stuck and unable to focus are sources of stress. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve got—or lack—right now. You have deadlines, numbers to hit. Reframe: take a few moments to have fun with getting focused, it takes away its power of paralyzing stress and helps keep you in touch with your creative and spiritual side.

Pay for the next person’s coffee. Get yourself the super-deluxe Frappacappamochaccino, once in a while. Buy yourself a bunch of new markers. Better yet, markers and a coloring book for someone else and surprise them. Buy those ridiculous sunglasses. Spend a couple of hours making a folk-art decorated Idea Box to keep dreams and ideas for later in. I have one, as do my kids.

It doesn’t matter if the treat is big or small; for you or for someone else. Take the time to have fun with your stuck: That’s the way to help it become your New Best Friend. Take its power, squash its voice and take a ridiculous fun action. What’s there to lose? Oh yeah, that “stuck” you are holding on too.

16. Meditate and Exercise Daily

Create white space in your mind by getting into your body. Don’t neglect either: Two powerful ways for clearing blockages from your body and mind.

It doesn’t matter if you devote only five minutes per day to these two powerful battery rechargers: It will make a difference to your physical well-being, emotional clarity and energy vibrations.

I prefer hot yoga and my meditation is journal and listening to Enya or Astrud Gilberto.

17. Baby Steps

Small actions that move us towards our goals are important—but if you really want to rocket boost your manifesting, get out of your comfort zone and give yourself permission to do things you wouldn’t normally do.

Sign up with that coach you’ve admired for the last two years.

Book that vacation you’ve been dreaming about for years.

Indulge that childhood dream—the one your father always scoffed at—and learn to ride a horse. Too scared? Do what I did and go find an indoor skydiving place instead of jumping out of an airplane…it’s a small step.

18. Choose Your Power

You have the power to manifest anything you want. It’s called ‘choice’.

Choice is your biggest gift. You can choose to focus on being stuck. You can choose to wallow in misery. You can choose to add passive income to your money manifesting strategy. You can choose to put up with a miserable, soul-sucking client… or ‘fire’ her and free yourself up for a new client who is delightful to work with.

There are three ways to make any decision:

  1. Make the empowered choice
  2. Make the disempowered choice
  3. Make no choice at all, which, by default is disempowering.

Choice is neither good nor bad, but it’s up to us whether or not we decide to make good choices (choices that empower us and move us forward) or bad choices (based on inertia and fear).

Acknowledge that only you have the power to choose the life you’ve always wanted.

19. “If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.” Will Rogers

(enough said)

20. Share Your Dreams and Goals

A dream or a goal that is kept secret is one you’re not really sure about. You’re not sure if you deserve it. You’re not sure you can do it. You’re not sure if it is for you. Maybe you are scared that it may actually work and change your life.

Start talking about your dreams and goals with people you trust. Sometimes, that person can provide an unexpected key piece of your puzzle, or even just encourage and cheer you on.

21. Laser focus is easier with support

When you put something into words, you will give yourself big clues and trigger cool insights that move you forward.

This is such a basic tenet that I hesitated to include it, but it’s also one of the most important things to remember when getting ready to focus, so here it is.

Setting a specific deadline for a step to be completed by (or a goal to be reached); specifying to the Universe, your friend, co-worker, spouse or team, basically anyone that supports you will move you toward your goal without back-tracking, stalls or hitches.

Put it in words, say it out loud. Twice. A day. Until it becomes reality.

22. Be Specific: Power Hour

I’m part of a weekly “Power Hour” group, we video call with each other every Friday for 1.5 hours. 15 minutes we set our intention for the next hour, what we are going to accomplish on our own and why it’s important, then we put ourselves on mute. We simply “co-work” together virtually, and quietly, then touch based again, and share our accomplishments in the last 15 minutes. It’s been a God-send because it holds me accountable.

23. Use Physical and Energy Healing to Boost Manifestation Power

Not just exercising or having a morning smoothie: Incorporate some form of hands-on healing that releases those stubborn hidden blocks that nestle deep within our bodies into your focus strategy.

Reiki, Yoga, EFT, massage, interpretive dance classes—all of these modalities help to release physical and energy blockages, some as deep-seated as childhood; many of which we’re not even aware.

Be kind to your wounded inner child and take her out for a play date by booking a physical or energy healing session. She may be the one who is really stuck.
Finally, remember that merely wishing you had more focus is called ‘day-dreaming’. Desire, naming your goal and taking action is what starts the journey towards the finish line.

What action will you take today toward manifesting more focus in your day (and more joy) in your life?
