The Dickens Process, Episode 30

I’ve been waiting to share this tool with you until the holiday season! Join me as I take you through The Dickens Process that I experienced during my time at Unleash The Power Within with Tony Robbins.

The exercise gets its name from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” in which Scrooge is visited by three ghosts showing him his past, present, and future.

It’s a deep dive into the limiting beliefs you hold as truth, and how to shift your thoughts to change your life.

 

The 1st Step Of The Dickens Process

Just like Scrooge when the first ghost came, that ghost came and took him to his past.

Pick your flavor of your limiting belief. Maybe it’s that you’re too much, or that you’re not enough, or you’re just not lovable as is. What has that belief cost you in the past? And what has it cost the people that you’ve loved, in the past? So, for me, perfectionism has cost me a whole lot of time. That’s for sure, right? Because if you got to make everything perfect, it’s going to take a lot of time. In the past, it’s also cost me people seeing me for who I truly am, because they’re getting one version of me but it might not be the full version.

If you know my story, in the past, trying to be perfect and do everything for everybody all the time has also generated shingles in my body. So, it’s literally cost me my health in the past. I want you to journal. Write it down. What has your limiting belief cost you in the past? What has your limiting belief cost you in the past? And feel it. Allow yourself to be sad about it. It is sad that my body had to tell me, “Whoa, Lisa, we got to stop. You’re trying to do too much.” I want you to see, feel, and just soak in the feeling of what it’s going to cost you, what it has cost you in the past, because you’ve held this limiting belief as true.

 

How do we replace the limiting belief that you are holding as true?

Truth has a funny way of actually not being true some of the time. So, here, notice you can replace the thought. The truth is I am more than enough. The truth is being great is being too much. The truth is being great is being too much. And that’s what I want to be: too much. The truth is I am divine. The truth is I am love. The truth is I am deserving. The truth is you are too. The truth is… And hold space for this energy for just a moment.

The truth is you are more than enough. The truth is you are more than enough. The truth is you are more than lovable. The truth is you’re perfect as is. The truth is you’re perfect as is. The truth is you are deserving. Sit in that feeling.

That is a choice. And when you choose that thought instead of the limiting belief, then you have an empowered belief. You have shifted from a disempowered belief to an empowered belief. And from that place, hold that, hold that thought, and take action. If we keep the thought in our head, it just stays in our head.

We want to take the thought and take aligned action. Take action. Show up imperfectly. Be in the unknown. Say the weird thing. Show up and wear what you really want to wear. Whatever it is, right? You be you. Let the freak flag fly.
