Ahh, manifestation. It has become quite the buzzword recently and rightfully so. It sounds great right: I can ask for anything and get it? And more or less, yes, but it’s not always that easy. If you’re not doing the self-work to go along with manifestation and staying in inspired action towards your intention, then you’re likely wasting your time. But if you are doing the work and looking for a way in, here are a few ways to get started on manifesting the life and career of your dreams.
1. Thank the universe every morning for what you have already been given
Manifestation begins with a positive headspace and outlook. You have to believe in the possibility of getting what you are manifesting, and that is nearly impossible in a negative place.
One of the easiest ways to shift your mindset to have a positive outlook is to practice gratitude. Gratitude can show up in big or little ways. For example, you can be thankful for something big, like the health of your family, or you can be thankful for something small, like the perfect cup of iced coffee on a hot day. Whether through meditation, journaling, or something else that feels right to you, take 5 minutes to start your day with gratitude and point out at least 3 things you are grateful for.
2. Write down what you hope to manifest in present terms as if it is already yours
Getting too much into a headspace of “I want I want I want” can actually have the opposite effect on the thing you are trying to manifest. When your grasp is too tight, the universe can read “I want” as “I don’t have” and can block you from your alignment. Listen to episode 6 of the Find Your Clear Vision podcast to learn more about contrasting feelings and how to use them to determine how you want to feel instead, this is a great way to shift your mindset from “I want this” or “I don’t want this” to the present tense.
To combat the “I want” cycle, try writing down your manifestations in the present tense as if you already have them. For example, if you want to find a job that aligns with your values you would write “I have a job that aligns with my values”. If you’re having a hard time getting here, read on to learn more about visualization.
3. Imagine what it would be like if this manifestation came true. Visualize the moment as much as you can.
Visualization is one of the most powerful tools you can use when it comes to manifestation. It is so much easier to manifest something when you have a blueprint of exactly what that looks like. This is why I work with my clients to create their clear future vision statement; it helps us to know where to go as opposed to simply guessing at our final destination.
Visualizations take you on an immersive journey to where you want to be. Meditate on your manifestation using all 5 senses. What do you feel? What do you see? What does it smell like? Who is there? These are just some of the questions to ask as you visualize exactly what you are trying to manifest. Videos, vision boards, playlists, and even traveling are fantastic ways to encourage a vivid and powerful visualization.
I was on the swim team in high school and at the end of practice, we would all lay on the floor of the gym and go through a visualization practice of swimming the race from diving into the water all the way to touching the other end of the pool and winning the race.
4. Release the manifestation and let the universe work its magic
This part might be the hardest part of manifesting: releasing the “how”. We have no way of knowing our exact path in life and manifestation is not about being rigid or controlling; it’s about being in inspired action to create your intention. The universe works in mysterious ways and often has lessons to teach us on our way to where we are going. You do not get to decide the how in your manifestation. You ask for the what and then must release the how into the universe. Listen to the pings guiding you to where you want to go. The harder your grasp on something, the harder it is for the universe to work its magic. Manifest what you want and put it into the universe. Then, let the universe work its magic while you keep on creating, dreaming, and being thankful for what is.
