How to Fuel Your Creative Energy: Insights from an Executive Mindset Coach for Creative Leaders

As an Executive Mindset Coach who works with creative leaders, living a creative life is one of my core values, especially when I’m busy and on the go.

In this post, I share four quick and easy ways to harness your creative energy to live an intentional life for busy creative leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, and people who want to embrace a creative life but feel like they don’t have the time.

1. Create Micro-Adventures

Weave in small moments of surprise and delight, intentionally. We can’t wait for inspiration to show up, instead creative leaders make them happen.

  • Quick hits:
    • Take a new way home
    • Backyard blooms
    • Sunlight through trees

Incorporate micro-adventures into your everyday routine. In my book, Find Your Clear Vision, I talk a lot about micro milestones, the tiny first steps that can make a big difference. Similarly, micro-adventures are small moments of inspiration that can be woven into your daily life.

Whether it’s taking a different way home to admire the street murals, enjoying the sight of blooming flowers in your backyard, or simply watching the sunlight flicker through the trees, these moments can spark creativity and provide a refreshing break from your routine.

One of my clients shares her backyard peonies on Instagram daily, showcasing how even small, mindful observations can bring joy and inspiration.

These little micro-adventures help you stay present and creative, even if you don’t have much time to spare.

2. Create Mindful Moments

Infusing mindfulness into your daily routine can profoundly impact your creative process, even if you’re not in a traditionally creative field (shout out to my lawyer clients!).

  • Quick hits:

    • Mindful walking
    • Forest bathing
    • Breathing technique

Alongside traditional practices like meditation and journaling, consider mindful walking, forest bathing, taking photos of your surroundings, listening to the birds rather than your favorite podcast, or even observing your afternoon tea as it glistens in the sunlight.

A mindful breathing technique I love is to use the words “here” on the inhale and “now” on the exhale. I started incorporating this into the breaks between client sessions, creating a simple yet powerful mindful moment.

These small practices can fuel your creativity, and energy, and help you appreciate the privilege of being present in your life.

3. Establish a Regular Creative Ritual

Establishing a regular creative ritual provides structure and allows you to prioritize your creativity. I’m not a fan of “habits” those sound rather dull, instead try on the word: Ritual–has a bit of flair doesn’t it?

Find a time that works best for you, whether it’s early morning, during lunch, or on weekends, and dedicate it solely to creative activities. It doesn’t have to be a major project; it could be experimenting with that new breathing technique I just shared, or trying a writing prompt.

For instance, my creativity this month involves simple practices that bring me joy and refill my energy daily.

Because I’m a Tarot Card Advisor I like to strengthen my practice by pulling a card in the morning as a ritual to set the energy for the day.

It’s not about the end result but the joy of the creative process itself.

Experiment with different techniques and mediums that spark your creativity. I see a tart reading in your future!

4. Create an Intentional Personal Branding Moment

Finally, use this season as an opportunity to create an intentional personal branding moment. Reflect on your personal or professional brand and identify an aspect you want to amplify or showcase.

  • Quick hits:

    • Unique fashion
    • Branding moment
    • Social media posts

It could be your unique sense of fashion, expertise in a specific field, or a particular skill like writing amazing hooks for marketing campaigns.

I like to take extra care in what I wear–color, texture and jewelry bring an extra spark of creativity to my day and give me confidence when needed.

Express and share who you are with your audience through social media posts, thought-provoking articles, or face-to-camera moments on platforms like TikTok or LinkedIn.

By intentionally highlighting your expertise and unique point of view, you can create memorable moments that leave a lasting impression on those you most want to serve.

Tag me and share your journey with me; I want to celebrate your creativity.

Incorporating micro-adventures, mindful moments, creative rituals, and intentional personal branding into your life can help you cultivate a meaningful, creative and purposeful life.

These practices will not only nurture your creativity but also strengthen your personal and professional brand.

By sharing, noticing, capturing, and being creative, you can create a life full of intentional moments that propel you into your desired future.
